Global Options Dialog

Documentation > Smart Shutdown > Settings > Global Options Dialog

This dialog allows you to specify some of the common program options.

Shutdown

Forced execution (Fast Shutdown):

Using this option will force Slawdog Smart Shutdown to shut down Windows without prompting to save unsaved data. You will lose any unsaved data in any applications that are running. However, if any applications hang up, the shutdown process will not be executed successfully.

Automatically close 'End Task' dialogs:

If this option is enabled, Slawdog Smart Shutdown will close the 'End Task' dialogs automatically.
NOTE: Supported by Windows 2000/XP/.NET Server only

Empty Recycle Bin on shutdown:

If this option is enabled, the program will automatically empty the Recycle Bin on every turn off/reboot/log off/etc.
NOTE: Does not supported by Windows 95, NT 3.51, NT 4.0

Warn before system shuts down:

If this option is enabled, the program will display a warning for a certain number of seconds. You can tune this number with the text specified in the edit box below before program will turn off, log off, reboot, lock, hibernate, disconnect from the internet\network, or go to stand by mode in Windows. While this warning dialog is been displayed, the user can cancel or continue the execution of the event by pressing either ' Yes ' or ' No ' on the confirmation dialog.

Retry until successful:

If this option is enabled, the program in the case of a failure to turn off, reboot etc.  will automatically retry to turn off, reboot etc. until this operation is completed successfully.

Play sound file on shutdown:

If this option is enabled, the program will play a sound file on every turn off/reboot/log off etc. The path to this sound file can be specified below.

Eject Removable Media on shutdown:

If this option is enabled, the program will eject any removable media assigned to specified drive letter (CDROM, CDRW, DVD etc.) on every turn off/reboot/log off etc. Drive letter of removable media that you wish to eject specified to the right of this checkbox.

Other

Hide after activation:

If this option is enabled, the program will be minimized to the system tray each time the user activates the Smart Shutdown settings.

Smart shutdown endless looping:

If this option is disabled, the program will execute the event specified in Smart Shutdown Functions just one time; otherwise, it will be executed every time specified in Smart Shutdown Functions.

Priority:

This can be either:

Low: Program functions only when the system is idle. For example, screen savers have the same priority.

Normal: Default value (Recommended)

High:  Time-critical execution. For example, the Task List has the same priority, which must respond quickly when called by the user, regardless of the load on the operating system. Use extreme care when using the high priority, since a high priority application can use nearly all available CPU time.

Very high: Highest possible priority, even over operating system processes performing important tasks. For example, program that has this priority can cause disk caches not to flush or cause the mouse to be unresponsive.

Show splash screen when program starts:

If this option is enabled, the program will show a splash screen for a few seconds before the main window appears.

Easy Shut down:

This feature allows you to execute a specified event when you click or double-click right or left button of our mouse on the Slawdog Smart Shutdown icon in the system tray. Below text "Left mouse button" and "Right mouse button" there are two combo boxes. First combo box specifies event "Single click" or "Double click". Using second one you can choose the event to be executed when you click or double-click on the Slawdog Smart Shutdown tray icon. If "No Action" is chosen, the program ignores clicks on the tray icon.

Profiles

Profiles contain information about all of the program's settings. By setting activating profile, this profile will monitor and save all changes you do to any settings of Slawdog Smart Shutdown, so that every time you launch Slawdog Smart Shutdown, you will find everything exactly the same as it was after you last used it. All other profiles won't be changed until you activate them or modify them manually. For more information about profiles, see Profiles.
