Hang Up Properties Dialog
Documentation > Smart Shutdown > Settings > Hang Up Properties Dialog
This dialog allows the user to specify the network/internet connection to be hung up if user has chosen the ' Hang up Internet connection ' event.
NOTE: To decide which option you should use, it would be better in most cases to test different types of connections with different settings in this dialog. Follow the steps below to learn how to do it.
Number of connection to be disconnected:
If you have multiple connections to the network and/or internet, you can specify the periodical number of the connection to be hung up.
Use this if you have not connected to the network/internet manually and another program did it without your help (AOL, Compuserve, MSN).
I use dial up programs for internet connections:
If you use a special program for dialing to your Internet Service Provider and it has a hang up command line parameter (see the help file of your dialer) it is recommended you enable this option. Enter the path of your dialer to the left edit box and the hang up parameter, which is defined by the dialer, to the right edit box. Every time you hang up your connection using Smart Shutdown it will execute file mentioned in path with command parameters, which you specify.
Apply to Smart Shutdown:
When this button is checked, all changes in this dialog box apply to the Smart shutdown function. For example, when you set the number of the connection to be disconnected as "2", check ' Apply to Smart shutdown ' and execute Smart shutdown event (Hang up Internet connection) using the rules described in Smart Shutdown Functions. Slawdog Smart Shutdown will hang up the second internet connection according to the Smart Shutdown function rules.
Configuring Hang Up Properties:
Hang up properties may vary from one computer to another. That is why it
is impossible to make a universal configuration for all computers. Follow
these steps to configure it for your system in case you do not use special
program for dialing to your ISP. If you do use such program, read the
instructions above ("I use dial up programs for Internet connection").
Connect to the Internet.
Select "Hang up Internet connection" string in dropdown box on the main window.
Open Hang up properties dialog.
Set number of connection to zero and click OK.
Click Action -> Execute Now in menu.
If Smart Shutdown does not hang up your Internet connection, repeat step 4, but use number of connection 1. If it is still does not work, try entering numbers 2,3....10. If result is the same, click "Autodial hang up" button in Hang up properties dialog and try to execute again.
If hang up feature still does not work, try numbers above 10. However, if it does not help, possibly this feature is not supported by your system or Windows fails to hang up connection itself.
