User Interface and Controls

Documentation > DOJO Media Player > Using DOJO Media Player > User Interface and Controls

This section about how to use DOJO is divided into sections dealing with different segments of the user interface, the GUI, and controls. However, since the interface depends on the skin you have chosen, the following information will differ among available interface styles.

Keys

Esc - Fast exit from DOJO

F1 - Help (Opens this file)

F5 - Panic button (Opens the setup data file for editing)

Playlist

The playlist is the portion of the interface that organizes your media into a list, and allows you to press buttons to control how the information is displayed. Depending on the skin, a load button is sometimes available, but lists can be loaded directly from the open dialog. The playlist save button will allow you to export the playlist between two formats. Three organization buttons are also possible: Sort (Alphabetize), Shuffle (Randomize), and Reverse (Flip).

Shift + Up\Down - Reposition highlighted song

Ctrl + C - Clear the entire playlist

Del - Cut the highlighted song from the list

Ins - Paste the highlighted song from the list

Turntable

Click on the needle to land it onto the circular vinyl. Right-click the vinyl to bring up a menu that allows you to select the turntable mode, Freq'n (Frequency adjustment with scratching) and Dexter (Speed-dependent frequency with scratching). You may also change the graphic to be displayed with the song. You may change the graphic to work with the particular genre, artist, or song. This will load the disk into the associated paint program; saved work from this program will be updated on the fly. The song graphic takes precedent over artist; artist takes precedent over genre.

To scratch the vinyl, hold a portion and drag with the mouse to adjust the RPM. Yank the mouse rapidly to scratch. Double-clicking "autoscratches".

Using DOJO's Controls

"Open" to open an audio file

"Play" to begin audio playback

"Stop" to cease playback

"Pause" to temporarily cease or resume playback

"Seek" to skip through an actively playing file

"Skip" to navigate to the beginning or the end of the current audio file

For looping, just toggle between the colored bands on the "Loop" button by clicking on it in a sequence. No band means the audio will not loop, an orange band will loop the current media continuously, and the green band won't actually loop, but cycle through your playlist as the media finishes playing.

Mouse Gestures

Mouse gestures are a test feature for this version of DOJO. They allow you to control commonly-used commands without having to click buttons; you simply hold down the right mouse button, draw the appropriate gesture, and release the mouse button.

Downward - Stops the current file from playing

Upward - Brings up the open file dialog

Right - Pauses/Resumes the current file

Using DOJO OS

To launch a visual, select the "Visuals" option, then select the visual to open.
