Getting Started with DOJO
Documentation > DOJO Media Player > Using DOJO Media Player > Getting Started with DOJO
To begin listening or watching media right away, all you need to do is click on , the button that opens files manually. Other options to open media files are by drag and drop (go to Windows explorer, highlight files, and drop them into DOJO); by loading a playlist (a basic collection of ordered audio and video samples) you may have from other media players; by double-clicking on the file when it has been associated with DOJO; or by doing a quick search available in the DOJO GUI. After files are loaded into your playlist, you may then click on the play button, double-click the name, or highlight and press enter to start playback.

The DOJO GUI is the basic console launched by DOJO when it is started. Its job is to manage plug-ins and visuals, as well as allow the user to set up its options. Its first basic option is the plug-in loader. It creates a list of all plug-ins available in the DOJO Plug-ins directory. Plug-ins allow you to extend DOJO beyond its normal features to allow a limitless variety of options to add onto DOJO, such as a web browser, a mixer, or a game. Visuals, on the other hand, are passive versions of plug-ins. Then only analyze information passed on to them by DOJO. That way, cool visuals such as equalizers, oscilloscopes, and VU meters can be generated according to the audio being played by DOJO.
Among the other DOJO enhancements besides the basic controls (play, pause, resume, stop, skip, and seek) are the volume slider and the turntable. The turntable is an interesting feature that is not present in many audio players. It works somewhat like a DJ's turntable, allowing you to slightly modify an audio file's position and frequency, as well as appending record scratching effects during sound playback. If you have ever listened to old-school rap music, this is the effect we are talking about. This adds to the user "hands-on" level, which allows you to feel more in control with the audio you specify.
